What is Lawn Aeration?

Lawn aeration is a process that improves soil drainage, promotes root growth by allowing water and oxygen to reach grass roots, and helps your lawn absorb more nutrients by extracting thousands of cores from the soil. This is especially important in areas where the soil has been compacted as a result of high foot traffic.

Traditional methods of lawn aeration include wearing lawn aerator shoes (basically sandals with spikes underneath) and stomping all over your lawn for hours, using a rolling lawn aerator with fixed spikes, and of course jumping around on the good old garden fork.

In addition to being extremely time-consuming and labour intensive, these methods don’t really work for one simple reason: the spikes are solid as opposed to being hollow, and they tend to push the soil to the side and downward when they enter the lawn, compacting the soil even more.

Sydney Lawn Aeration uses a powerful reciprocating aerator machine that quickly and efficiently extracts thousands of cores from the lawn – even in hard soil conditions – allowing water, oxygen and essential nutrients direct access to the grass roots, where they are most needed.
