FAQ
How much does a lawn aeration service cost?
This depends a lot on the size and condition of your lawn, but for a small lawn it can cost as little as $125.

What will my lawn look like once the lawn aeration is complete?
Once the lawn aeration is complete, your lawn will be covered in lots of soil cores (also called “plugs"). Depending on the type and consistency of the soil, these will be up to 7cm in length and about 1cm in width.
What should I do next?
Immediately after lawn aeration is the perfect time to fertilise your lawn, as the soil beneath the lawn is now ready to absorb all these nutrients. Sydney Lawn Aeration is able to provide expert advice on the best type of fertiliser for your lawn and soil type.
Should I mow the lawn to get rid of the plugs?
Give it at least a few hours before mowing over the plugs. You can use a catcher if you want to get rid of the plugs (or spread them over a garden bed), but it’s also fine to mow over them without a catcher just to break up the plugs and let the soil settle back into the lawn. Rake over the lawn when you’re done for the best result. If you mow straight after the aeration is complete, the plugs will still be a bit moist, and this can clog up your lawnmower.
How long will it take for lawn aeration to make a difference?
This will depend on several factors including soil type, time of year and weather, however, you can expect a thicker, greener lawn after about 6 – 8 weeks. During that time, it is important to continue watering the lawn regularly for the lawn to get the maximum benefit of aeration.
My lawn has been aerated, but I can’t see any plugs. What should I do?
Don’t worry! Depending on your soil type and consistency (e.g. if it’s quite sandy), the lawn aerator may not extract any plugs. That’s totally ok – your lawn will still benefit from aeration, as air, water and nutrients will find it much easier to penetrate your soil.
